Looking for a way to use some fresh ginger syrup? Or, just looking for an easy-drinking porch cocktail?

So many “summer drinks” are cloyingly sweet, or too fruity and mask the taste of the spirits. By contrast, the¬†Backsliding Presbyterian is fresh, fruity, refreshing, but sophisticated. I’m planning on making a pitcher for my next summer party.

2 oz. bourbon
1/2 oz. Campari
1 oz. fresh lime juice
1 1/2 oz. ginger syrup

Shake bourbon, Campari, lime juice and ginger syrup with ice, strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Top with seltzer and garnish with an orange slice.
